Teri
Ball
Executive Director
Executive Director Teri Ball oversees the administrative elements of Speaking of Stories,
including marketing, fundraising, and day-to-day office operations.
Teri’s career has spanned practically every area of
theatre -- except those where you have to appear on stage. Through the years this has included everything from set and
costume construction, to electrics, to box office management, to makeup design.
Her work as a professional stage manager took her to a wide variety of
theatres in Los Angeles
and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, working on everything from musicals to Shakespearean dramas -- and her
personal favorite, new plays, including the New Works Festival at the Mark Taper
Forum. With a concentration in stage
management and eventually production management, the move to the more
administrative side of the arts was a natural fit.
Prior to joining Speaking of Stories in January 2000 Teri served as Executive
Director for the Santa Barbara Dance Alliance and Marketing Director for the
Ensemble Theatre in Santa Barbara
and as the Development Director for the California Shakespeare Festival in Berkeley,
California.
As a management consultant Teri has worked with a variety of organizations in
California, Pennsylvania and Arizona including the California Symphony, PACE
Theatre, Pittsburgh Public Theatre, Pittsburgh Renaissance & Baroque
Festival, Young Artists Ensemble, Legal Community Against Violence, Maricopa
County Probation Department, National Curriculum and Training Institute and the
Non-Profit Management Center at the University of San Francisco. Her consulting
projects have included strategic planning, development of business plans,
development and implementation of marketing and fundraising campaigns and
database design for both fundraising and ticket sales.
Teri holds a Master of Arts Management degree in Not-for-Profit Arts Management
from
Carnegie
Mellon
University, where she spent a wonderful year working with the students in the
Drama
School
as the Theatre Manager for the Studio Theatre.
Teri is on the Advisory Board for the Santa Barbara Dance Alliance and is a past
Vice President of the Board of the Santa Barbara Performing Arts League.
Teri is a member of Actor’s Equity, the union of professional actors
and stage managers.
