SUSAN KELLER

Susan Keller is a fifth-generation Californian whose career has taken her
across North America.   She began with the Canadian Opera Company, touring 42 states and all the Canadian provinces and territories as Venus in Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld.  Susan remained in Canada as a panelist on the long-running and acclaimed CBC-Television show, This Is the Law. At the same time, she worked in cabaret and revue (the premier of Gilbert and Sullivan Tonite!, the Canadian production of In Gay Company, celebrated humorist Dave Broadfoot’s Take a Beaver to Lunch), in comedy (the Toronto company of Second City), in theater (Becky Lou in The Tooth of Crime at Toronto’s Tarragon Theatre, Hypatia in Misalliance at the Shaw Festival and Marianne in The Miser with the Philadelphia Drama Guild, among others) and in TV drama (including More Joy in Heaven with John Vernon and The Collaborators). She made her feature film debut starring in The Clown Murders, with John Candy in his first dramatic role.

Susan’s career remained equally eclectic after her return to California. She was co-host on Mid-Morning LA for KHJ-TV, a regular on Days of Our Lives, a guest on numerous TV comedy and drama series (including the "Who Shot JR" episode of Dallas), and she co-starred with Dick Sargent in ANTA-West’s premier of Gog and Magog at the Coronet Theatre. She pursued an award-winning song-writing career, created comedy and vocal showcases for LA clubs, and acted as spokeswoman for an interesting array of commercial products.  She earned a law degree at UCLA, practicing entertainment law prior to moving to Santa Barbara.

Local audiences have enjoyed seeing Susan on stage with Civic Light Opera’s The Sound of Music, at the Ensemble Theatre, regularly with Speaking of Stories and in last fall’s production of Bad Dog at Center Stage.  She also produced Always… Patsy Cline and Leslie Nielsen’s Clarence Darrow at the Lobero Theatre.  Currently, Susan is the Founder and Producer of SANTA BARBARA REVELS, which presents fully-staged and costumed productions incorporating music, dance, drama and ritual to commemorate seasonal change.  Last December, SB Revels presented several introductory performances of The Christmas Revels:  in Celebration of Winter Solstice, featuring the traditions of Medieval and Renaissance England.  A full slate of performances is scheduled for December 2008 at the Marjorie Luke Theatre.
