Leslie Gangl Howe
It
was my mother who decided when she was 8 months pregnant with me that I was
destined for the stage. She chose the name “Leslie” because she thought it
would look good in lights. Armed with that knowledge it only took me a mere 14
years to make my stage debut as 5’8” baby who popped out of a camera. I so
loved the experience that I’ve been popping up on stage, radio and television
ever since. Some of my favorite productions include: The Goat or Who is
Sylvia? (Genesis West Productions), Shadowlands, The Heidi Chronicles,
Good Night Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet), Anton In Show Business, and
Private Eyes (Santa Barbara City College Theatre Group), and The Musical
Comedy Murderes of 1940 (Ensemble Theatre. If you are a Country and Western
fan you may remember me from the Garth Brooks music video “Standin’ Outside the
Fire.” Since 1996 I have had the pleasure of serving as the Co-Chair for the
Santa Barbara Chapter of Women in Film. This evening’s appearance marks my
first collaboration with Maggie Mixsell and my second with Speaking of Stories.
Here’s to another home run, Maggie…let’s play ball!
