LAUREL LYLE
Laurel Lyle loves a good story.
Whether it’s sprawling with her daughters on a sleeping bag under the
stars listening to The Sally Lockhart Trilogy by flashlight, or dozing
under the makeup table on a two show day of Streetcar Named Desire while
Tammi Tappan (aka Stella) reads David Sedaris…being read to is one of her
life’s greatest pleasures. Laurel
recently starred in the world premiere of Michael Smith’s Bad Dog at
Center Stage Theatre. She has performed locally at the Rubicon Theatre in The
Diary of Anne Frank (Miep), was part of Rubicon Theatre’s international
collaboration with Manitoba Theatre Center, as Miss Fellows in Tennessee
Williams’ Night of the Iguana, and also appeared as Eunice in A
Streetcar Named Desire. At the Ensemble Theatre she has been featured in Humble
Boy, A Lovely Sunday at Creve Coeur and Side Man (Independent
Theatre Award.) Favorite roles at
the Garvin Theatre include Ouisa in Six Degrees of Separation, Lyssa in An
American Daughter and Agnes in Dancing at Lughnasa.
She has the distinction of being featured in Jane Fonda’s four least
favorite films…Agnes of God, The Morning After,
Old Gringo and
Stanley and Iris and earned a Los Angeles EMMY AWARD for her work on
public television. A native of Los Angeles, Laurel lives in Santa Barbara with
her husband, David Hodges (the best reader in the world!) and their three
wonderful daughters, Kate, Tess and Emma.
