SUSAN CHIAVELLI
Susan Chiavelli's memoir, Death, Another Country, was condensed for this evening's performance. The essay was the recipient of the 2008 Lamar York Prize for Nonfiction from the Chattahoochee Review. Her short stories have won fiction awards from
New Millennium Writings, Minnetonka Review, and 580 Split, and have appeared in numerous literary journals including
Other Voices, Spindrift, Lunch Hour Stories, and elsewhere. She is the recipient of the John E. Profant Foundation for the Arts first place literature award, and served as co-editor of
More Letters from the Heart -- words of wisdom from exceptional women and
girls, a 50th anniversary project of Girls Incorporated of Greater Santa Barbara. Susan was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, and currently lives in the foothills of Santa Barbara where her husband, Dennis, is building her a barn.
