RON CARLSON

Ron Carlson is the author of eight books of fiction, most recently his selected stories A Kind of Flying (W.W. Norton) and the novel The Speed of Light (HarperCollins).  He is also the author of the story collection At the Jim Bridger, the novels Betrayed by F.Scott Fitzgerald and Truants and three other story collections among them, The Hotel Eden.  His short stories have appeared in Esquire, Harpers, The New Yorker, Gentlemen's Quarterly, Epoch, The North American Review and other journals.  This work has been selected for The Best American Short Stories, The O'Henry Prize Series, The Pushcart Prize Anthology, The Norton Anthology of Short Fiction and dozens of other anthologies.  Mr. Carlson, who has taught writing at Arizona State University since 1986, has received a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in Fiction, the Cohen Prize at Ploughshares, and a National Society of Arts and Letters Literature Award.
