PENELOPE LIVELY

Penelope Lively (1933– ) Born and raised in Cairo , Lively moved to England during the last year of World War II and later studied modern history at Oxford University . She has authored over 30 novels, children’s works, and non-fiction titles, along with scripts for television and radio. Her many awards include England’s prestigious Booker Prize in 1987 for Moon Tiger, the Arts Council National Book Award for Treasures of Time, the Whitbread Award for A Stitch in Time, the Carnegie Medal for The Ghost of Thomas Kempe, and the Southern Arts Literature Prize for Nothing Missing But the Samovar. She currently lives in London and Oxfordshire.
