JEFFREY EUGENIDES

Jeffrey Eugenides is the author of the novel, The Virgin Suicides (Farrar, Straus & Giroux, 1993), which has recently been made into a film. His fiction has appeared in The New Yorker, The Paris Review, The Yale Review, Best American Short Stories and Granta's Best of Young American Novelists.

Mr. Eugenides is the recipient of many awards, including fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the National Foundation for the Arts, a Whiting Writers' Award, and the Henry D. Vursell Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Last year he was a Fellow in the Berliner Künstlerprogramm of the D.A.A.D.

Eugenides had been awarded a Berlin Prize Fellowship at the American Academy in Berlin for the academic year 2000-2001. During this time, he completed a new novel.
