EDWIDGE DANTICAT
Edwidge Danticat (1969– ) – Born in
Port-au-Prince, Haiti, her parents moved to New York when she was very young.
Her collection of short stories about Haiti and Haiti-Americans before
democracy, Krik?Krak! (1995) was a National Book Award finalist. She
received the Pushcart Short Story prize that same year, and has received fiction
awards from Carribean Writer, Seventeen, and Essence magazines.
She has a B.A. in French Literature from Barnard College and a Master of Fine
Arts degree from Brown University. Other works include Breath, Eyes, Memory (1994),
Farming of Bones (1998), and Behind the Mountains (2002).
