DYLAN THOMAS

Dylan Thomas (1914–1953) Although better known as a poet, Thomas always considered himself a writer of both prose and poetry. Eighteen Poems, published in 1934, followed by Twenty-Five Poems, in 1936, gained him notoriety as a rising young poet, but he had trouble publishing his first collection of short stories, because publisher’s considered them obscene. His reputation as a boozer and a brawler did not help. A Child’s Christmas In Wales is compiled from two similar and very popular stories, Memories of Christmas and Conversation About Christmas.
