DAVID MICHAEL KAPLAN

David Michael Kaplan is the author of the short story collection, Comfort (Viking-Penguin); the novel, Skating in the Dark (Pantheon); and Revision: A Creative Approach to Writing and Re-writing Fiction (Story Press). His stories have appeared in The Atlantic, Playboy, Redbook, Mirabella, Triquarterly, and Doubletake among others, and have been anthologized in Best American Short Stories, The O. Henry Prize Stories, The Scribner Anthology of Contemporary American Fiction and others. He is the 1999 winner of the 'Nelson Aigren Short Story Award'. David teaches fiction writing at Loyola University Chicago, where he is a professor of English and directs the creative writing program.
