BARRY HANNAH

Barry Hannah (1942– ) – Born in Clinton, Mississippi, Hannah received his M.A. and MFA In Creative Writing from the University of Arkansas. His first novel, Geronimo Rex (1972), won the William Faulkner Prize for writing and earned a National Book Award nomination.  His short fiction collection Airships (1978) won the Arnold Gingrich Short Fiction Award, and his more recent short story collection, High Lonesome (1996), was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in Fiction. Hannah has won the Bellaman Foundation Award in Fiction (1970), the Bread Loaf Fellowship for Writing (1971), and the Award for Literature from the American Institute of Arts and Letters in 1979. His most recent novel is Yonder Stands Your Orphan (2002).
