JEAN HARFENIST Jean Harfenist— After growing up in Minnesota Harfenist graduated from New York University’s Stern School of Business. Her stories have been widely published in literary journals, including the Missouri Review, Quarterly West, The Barcelona Review, Sycamore Review, Crazyhorse, Sonora Review, and the Wisconsin Review. Work from her linked-story collection A Brief History of the Flood (Knopf, 2002), won the Prism International 2001 Fiction Prize and received special mention for The Pushcart Prize. She was also named a finalist for the Katherine Anne Porter Nimrod/Hartman Award, the Kirkwood Literary Prize, the Missouri Review 2000 and 2001 Editor’s Prize, and the Indiana Review 2001 Fiction Prize. After career in advertising management, Jean now lives in Santa Barbara with her husband.
